The Augmented Reality in Financial Services

The Internet and smartphone are just the latest in a 250-year long cycle of disruption that has continuously changed the way we live, the way we work and the way we interact. The coming Augmented Age, however, promises a level of disruption, behavioral shifts, and changes that are unparalleled. While consumers today are camping outside of an Apple store waiting to be one of the first to score a new Apple Watch or iPhone, the next generation of wearables will be able to predict if we're likely to have a heart attack and recommend a course of action. Following on from the Industrial or Machine Age, the Space Age and the Digital Age, the Augmented Age will be based on four key disruptive themes - Artificial Intelligence, Experience Design, Smart Infrastructure, and HealthTech.

In Financial Services terms, the Augmented Age will be disrupting for traditional incumbents as banking moves increasingly to technology-based experiences that surface the key utility of banking – such as currency agnostic value stores, bank-less payment capabilities for real-time global commerce, and contextual credit surfacing in-store without an application process or plastic card. Bank 4.0 powered by the Augmented world will be based on a new way of thinking for any financial service organization.

How to Eat an Elephant: Practical Solutions for Working with Hadoop and Qlik

In this session, David Freriks will speak to his experience with a wide array of customers and how the combination of the Cloudera and Qlik platforms have yielded standout Big Data & Analytics results.

Modernization of Analytics Platform to augment Insurer’s high-performance culture

Today large insurers are confronting with an ever more pressing need to differentiate on customer centricity, price, underwriting efficiency and operational excellence. Past decade of data revolution has provided the opportunity to leverage data, internal as well as external, as probably the only viable option to survive. Hence insurers are in a race to transform to a high-performance culture through a sustained effort in modernizing analytics platform.

It’s difficult to know where the data is, who needs to get what data, leave alone how you to make the best use of it. Hence, a modern analytics platform must bring discipline in leveraging data to get actionable insights that can drive business outcomes, IT efficiency as well as strategic decision making. This requires integration of legacy as well as new data sources such as IOT, Social data platforms etc. in a seamless self-service environment and provide the ability to process and analyze data to get actionable insights.

Some of the benefits realized includes:

  • - Elimination of the need to purchase of costly financial tool to calculate premium indicators and prospecting for different organizations.
  • - 20-30% Improvement in providing policy quotes through Construction Peer Dashboard, Non- Profit Underwriting Tool, Customer Analytics, Customer 360 applications
  • - $1 Million annual savings achieved through dashboards and predictive analytics created for IT asset utilization and infrastructure cost

Planning and Predictive (AI) Methods to Shift from Spreadsheet Hell to an Integrated FP&A Solution

Abraham Lincoln said once “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” Lincoln suggested spending two thirds of his time on proper planning and preparations. Successful organizations are always eager to improve their planning capabilities but sharpening their “axes” (spreadsheets) is not an easy task. Although spreadsheets are the most common way to plan and control business results they are not the most efficient way for planning and cannot be “sharpened” forever. Our session will present the path from the common spreadsheet hell to modern solutions and tools, discussing advanced planning methodologies and modern predictive (AI) solutions.

The session will demonstrate how the chatbot functions and present us cases on submitting questions for Mortgage risk and compliance in which the chatbot will deliver detailed narratives and visuals through easy to use chat boxes.

Optimizing business performance through data exploration

Banking organizations today often struggle with manual excel reporting and reconciliations across multiple source of truth to provide useful Management Information (MI) to the business. At the same time as there is a desire for better business partnership and delivery of rich business insights, there continue to be greater regulatory demands and pressures to reduce cost of servicing. This session will introduce one of a number of dashboards powered by Qlik Sense and developed by a business finance organization to support business decision making. The dashboard combines multiple data types in a single reporting and analytics platform to deliver a full picture of the business’ performance and potential revenue and expense opportunities. It delivers a self-service view into a rich data set, combining financial and non-financial metrics to support financial performance analysis and to help highlight business insights by unpacking more granular information on customers, products, and branch and salesforce productivity. Developed on a Big Data platform, the dashboard is automated from source to production with the ability for data to be refreshed as frequently as daily, offering real-time analytics that help drive better, more-informed, and agile decision-making.

By leveraging the Qlik Sense, the business finance organization is able to develop not just a more efficient, but more effective, insightful and truly automated reporting and analytics capability. CFOs and business finance partners are able to explore and interact with data and gain deeper business insights with ease. The result is a more collaborative and comprehensive data story through which finance and business users can share insights, uncover data relationships, and better understand performance in the context of key drivers such as customers, branches and products.

Surfacing the Value of Blockchain with Analytics

The Need for Data Literacy in Financial Services and Credit Card Marketing

Data is the foundation for the new analytics economy. But data alone is useless unless it can be transformed into insights that lead to the digital transformation of your business. These insights rely on technology of course. But just as importantly, they rely on your workforce’s ability to read, work with, analyze and argue with data. Join this session to understand what data literacy is, and why it is such a critical skill for organizations to be successful, and get a unique inside look into Jordan’s experience in the credit-card world with the democratization of data and the need for data literacy.

Consumer financial sentiment analysis using Google's Speech API and Qlik

In this session, Slalom Consulting will showcase how we used Google Cloud Platform to read consumer complaint data from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to analyze complaints. Using Google's Natural Language Processing Speech API, we were able to determine the sentiment of the texts and the degree of negativity of the complaints. Qlik Sense was used to visualize the data and build interactive analysis that allows the user to create actionable insights.

Surfacing the Value of Blockchain with Analytics

Blockchain continues to be one of the hottest buzzwords in financial services, yet front page uses and success stories struggle to surface. In this session, Fred Hefer and Philip Duplisey, start with a business focused, fifty-thousand foot introduction of the technology. Touching on core components they move to the real world of business challenges that can be addressed using Blockchain. Practical applications and current pilot projects are referenced to drive home the potential use cases.

But how do the worlds of Blockchain and Analytics meet? Philip dives into how Qlik® is currently used to deliver world leading solutions. Fred explains how the distributed ledgers of Blockchain meets Qlik - as an independent and integrated data sources.

The explanation comes to life in a demo of transactional data from the Ripple platform. Ripple’s distributed financial technology enables banks to send real-time international payments across networks. Our Qlik Sense demo shows how practical analytics is executed on Blockchain data.
